How to tame the scattered brain

mindfulness practice, mantra, new mama wellness, lifestyle coaching
I’ve always been impulsive. I am the action girl! Don’t think, just act, react! It served me so well most of my life… in high school I was involved in sports, clubs + activities and in college was always pioneering the next adventure with my friends. It was easy to be impulsive. I got a lot of stuff done. But now that I’m officially “adulting” (our definition of adulting is becoming parents, that’s when I really had to get it together)… so now in this phase of life, being impulsive is not such a fun trait. In fact it is down right debilitating. It’s not cool to be impulsive when you have two little humans who are way more reactive, spontaneous, irrational + crazy than you who have more of a right to be than you! Now it looks more like legit ADD.

How I am upping my spiritual game this year!

resources for spiritualism, a course in miracles, marianne williamson, spiritual teacher, the power of now, eckhart tolle
Recently I found myself feeling a sense of lack. I couldn’t put my finger on it right away- but it was general sense of disconnection, lack of inspiration. I am a big believer in the Law of Attraction and know that a “scarcity mindset” or a perspective that there is anything less than abundance, is not something I want to have!! I was texting with a good friend and saw myself typing, “I don’t know, I feel like I need to find a church or something”… and when I wrote that I realized I was missingย connection.ย Connection to my self, connection to my purpose and connection to faith.

4 Tools I’m using to organize my house + my mind this Fall

organize your home and de-clutter this fall, new year fresh start

I love this time of year- chilly mornings, chai lattes, cozy fires at night and getting a fresh new agenda plannerย to “be more productive”! I guess I will forever be on the school schedule where the start of the year is always in the fall. It’s good, it feels like the right cycle for me (plus my hubby works in education and goes back each Fall to start a fresh new year).

Here are 4 tools I’m excited to use to help me organize my home and clear my mind in preparation for the next seasonal change…

Do you need a Digital Detox?

digital detox, wellness, mindfulness, how to be present, unplug
I recently had to replace the screen on my cell phone which required me to leave it at the Apple store for a whole hour. They told me to come back at 5:15pm. No problem I thought- I would just wander round the mall. Holy cow was that hard! First of all, I had no idea what time it was because I use my phone as a watch, second I probably reached for that thing like 20 times out of sheer habit knowing full well that it was not with me and third I had this odd feeling of being cut off. Cut off from what? I decided it was time to seriously take inventory of how I am using technology in my life.

This year in themes. Why I don’t make New Years resolutions

New mama wellness, January cleanse, detox
Traditionally, Aaron and I have always set goals for the new year. When we make our pilgrimage back to the East coast to spend the last 2 weeks of December with our families and friends we have LOTS of time in the car. It’s when we do our best dreaming. It’s usually on the drive back to Albany from Syracuse after a whirlwind of presents, Italian food and family time that we start chatting about all the things we want to accomplish in the coming year. We are both fortunate to have big loving families but the holidays are always crammed tight with so much eating, socializing, eating, gift giving, drinking, socializing, eating, sitting, talking, eating (you get the point) that naturally our goal setting chats usually revolve around simplifying life and practicing moderation.
