Being in relationship with another human being takes work. Being in a marriage with another human being takes even more work. Being in a marriage that also includes kids and working spouses is a whole other level of work! But its worth it and it can be done. Everything for me and my relationship with Aaron usually boils down to communication and expressing love. We are not perfect people and therefore we do not have a perfect relationship. Through the 13 years that we have been in each others lives we’ve gotten to know one another (quite well) and have realized how opposite we are! Our communication styles are 100% opposite, which makes our emotional expression completely different as well. We are both self-aware enough to recognize this which I’m grateful for- I know there are couples out there that are not as aware.
Sometimes when you start a new journey you need to hit a lot of bumps along the way to make sure you are on the right path for the right reasons. I started sharing my writing on my blog after I had Everly (almost three years ago now!) I had no idea how to do this, where to start and was extremely intimidated by all the other amazing bloggers out there writing and earning an income from their efforts.
Let’s celebrate the month of love with some fun ideas to ignite the fire, fan the flame or burn brighter with your lover. I wrote a post last year about how to date your husband with some fun ideas to reconnect with your hubby. Partnerships, friendships and relationships in general take effort- you cannot expect growth if you aren’t putting forth the effort. Continue reading
I do not like hospitals. I do not like going to the doctor. I literally get high blood pressure when I go for a routine check up. I used to dread getting my blood pressure taken for fear of it being a high number (and inevitably my anxiety and stress made it high). Anyway, when I got pregnant with my first baby I was super excited but then immediately scared about all the visits to the doctor, the needles, the poking + prodding and most of all the thought of having a c-section at the end of the whole thing. I was determined from the onset to have a natural labor and birth. Continue reading
As many of you guys know I am facilitating the Diabetes Prevention Program over at the YMCA. I am coaching a group of people through lifestyle changes that can hep reduce their risk for developing Type ll Diabetes and I love love love it! It’s been really eye opening for me to see just how challenging behavior change can really be. It’s also making me do some “checking in” with myself on how I handle some of my own hard to break habits. Continue reading
Have you tried essential oils yet? They are increasing in popularity and for good reason, they have so many amazing benefits for our body, mind and spirit. Personally I have been incorporating essential oils into my life for the past few years. I use them as aromatherapy for mental well-being and topically for immune support. I love that these little “potions” as my friend Erin calls them are natural and powerful plant derivatives. Continue reading
Multi-level marketing seems to be all the rage these days. Stay at home parents are making a living off posting on social media about products they are now using. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then head over to your Facebook or Instagram feed and let me know how many posts you are seeing with things like: before and after photos using Rodan + Fields skin care, or the many uses of Young Living Essential Oils or Beach Body 30 day challenges or the Plexus “pink drink” slimming supplements or 31 Gifts or Juice Plus whole food vitamins or (fill in the blank here). If you still have no idea what I’m talking about then your friends just haven’t started selling something yet.
