Ya can’t beat fresh eggs (unless you’re making an omelette)

This Memorial Day we kicked off summer with our favorite thing to do… Road trip! The anticipation of a road trip unleashes our wanderlust spirit and you can feel the buzz in our household. We start a list of everything we need to pack, now that we have a baby there’s twice as much stuff in the “things for Evie” column and we begin piling our gear two days ahead of time. I love PARSLEY!

I planted parsley seeds in my garden this morning. My Italian friends always use parsley in Italian cooking, but this is an herb that I often overlook. It’s readily available in the grocery store year-round but is also super easy to grow in your garden or in a pot on your windowsill. It is a biennial plant which means you plant it once and it will return to the garden year after year. Continue reading

Backyard Garden

I grew up in the city and later moved to “the country” but in each of these settings my family always had a garden. My Dad made garden beds along the fence at our city house and grew herbs on the windowsill. Then later when we had 3 acres, Dad created a beautiful backyard garden that produced enough veggies to feed a small army. Growing your own food was a novelty back when I was in high school, not many people were doing it. Having a plethora of fresh veggies all summer long made for fun times cooking, making salsa and even bartering with squash (yes once I paid my cab fare with a bunch of squash… Seriously ask my friends).
